Portillo's latest success came on Sunday when he scored the decisive goal in the Playoff final. He collected the ball inside the box, turned quickly, and fired a powerful shot into the top left corner, securing Real Oviedo's third goal in extra time.
Portillo's journey to the top began when he rose through the youth ranks at Málaga CF. He even featured in the UEFA Champions League with his hometown club in the 2012/13 season. In 2015, he joined Real Betis, where he achieved his first promotion to the top flight.
He then moved to Getafe CF in 2016, where he became a key player and earned promotion via the Playoffs. Portillo spent five seasons at Getafe before joining UD Almería in 2021. He achieved promotion in his first season and remained with the team to play in the top flight the following year.
In 2023, Portillo joined CD Leganés as a free agent and contributed to the team's second-ever promotion to the top flight. Each of his five promotions came in the only five seasons he has played in the Segunda División, all with different clubs.
