The game began with Lecce creating more promising moments, particularly in the early stages. Riccardo Sottil threatened to score when he shot the ball just past the post, and Tete Morente forced the Atalanta goalkeeper to take action with the first shot on target.
However, Atalanta failed to capitalize on these early chances and fell behind in the final 10 minutes of the first half. Defender Giorgio Scalvini scored his first goal since June 2024, powered by a header from Nicola Zalewski's inviting corner.
Lecce struggled to recover from this setback, and their task became even more difficult when they conceded a second goal just seven minutes into the second half. De Ketelaere collected Nikola Krstovic's layoff and placed a clinical strike past the goalkeeper.
With their confidence boosted, Atalanta continued to dominate the game. Zalewski came close to scoring a third goal with a free-kick that hit the crossbar, but the goalkeeper managed to block Mario Pasalic's subsequent rebound.
Krstovic then had a chance to score against his former employers but missed the goal by a narrow margin. However, this mistake was quickly forgotten as Atalanta scored two more goals in quick succession.
Zalewski scored a reverse shot to make it 3-1, and De Ketelaere netted his second goal of the match. Although Lecce scored a sublime individual goal to give their supporters a brief moment of hope, the game was already decided in favor of Atalanta.
Despite missing a chance for a fifth goal, Atalanta celebrated their victory, moving to five points in the process. Lecce, on the other hand, remained on one point.
Charles De Ketelaere was recognized as the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
