The team, led by coach Oliver Glasner, will travel to eastern Poland to face Dynamo Kyiv in the UEFA Conference League, after an impressive 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Saturday.

Palace's only previous experience in continental competition was a single home-and-away tie in the Intertoto Cup in 1998, but they return to Europe following their FA Cup win over Manchester City last season.

The FA Cup victory marked the club's first major trophy, and it was followed by another Wembley win in the Community Shield against Liverpool.

However, Palace lost a dispute with UEFA over their demotion from the Europa League due to the governing body's rules on multi-club ownership, a rare defeat for the team under Glasner's leadership.

Glasner, a 51-year-old Austrian coach, has seen his stock rise significantly, with some considering him a top contender for the Manchester United job if Ruben Amorim is let go.

"I follow all the rumors - and that's all they are," Glasner said in an interview.

Just a year ago, Glasner's own position was under threat after a poor start to the season, where Palace won just one of their first 13 league games.

Glasner took over a team that was struggling with relegation when he replaced Roy Hodgson in February 2024, but has since overseen a remarkable transformation at Selhurst Park, despite losing key players Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

The team managed to keep captain Marc Guehi, a crucial signing, after Glasner made a strong case for keeping him, convincing chairman Steve Parish to do so.

"At the end of many discussions, it was the chairman who asked me: 'Oliver, do you think we can manage the season when we sell Marc?' I said: 'Honestly, we can't manage it in the short-term,'" Glasner said.

"If you want this scenario for Crystal Palace and you are fine with it, sell Marc. If you don't want to have this, then we have to keep him. And then he decided we keep him," Glasner added.

Palace risk losing Guehi for free when his contract expires in the summer, but are currently reaping the benefits, with the Premier League's joint-best defensive record through six games.

The team is the only remaining undefeated team in the league and has already faced four of the top-seven teams from last season.

They are in third place and trail Liverpool by just three points, despite the significant disparity in resources among England's top clubs.

Only Fulham and Aston Villa spent less money this summer than Palace, whose main signing was Spain winger Yeremy Pino from Villarreal in a deal worth up to £26 million.

To put it into perspective, Premier League clubs spent over £3 billion on new players this summer, with Liverpool spending a record amount nearing £450 million.

Palace had one of the biggest net transfer profits in the top flight, but Glasner is finding ways to get the best out of his players.

Only Liverpool, Arsenal, and City have collected more points in 2025 than Palace.

Jean-Philippe Mateta has scored 29 times in 56 league games under Glasner, while Ismaila Sarr and Adam Wharton are also flourishing, as is Daniel Munoz.

Maxence Lacroix and Chris Richards are part of a strong back three with Guehi, and Dean Henderson looks to be the goalkeeper that United were hoping he would become at Old Trafford.

Glasner, who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021/22, can make history with Palace against Dynamo by eclipsing the club's record unbeaten run set back in 1969.

However, in a competition where they are seen as contenders alongside Fiorentina and Strasbourg, Palace will not be satisfied with just experiencing European football.
