Arteta spoke about the injury ahead of Arsenal's match against Wolves, saying that Saliba had modified his running style to compensate for the injury, but then overdid it, leading to further discomfort.
"It was a small injury that he had, and then he started to change the way he was running, which caused him to overload a particular area," Arteta said.
Arteta stated that Saliba is improving, but it's unclear if he'll be able to train with the team.
The manager will assess Saliba's availability for the match against Wolves, saying that it's uncertain whether he'll be fit to play.
Saliba's absence has allowed Jurrien Timber to step in and cover for him, and Arteta mentioned that Timber's recovery from his own injury is progressing, but it's still a matter of days before he's back to full fitness.
Arsenal has been on a good run of form, winning their previous match against Club Brugge, and will look to continue that momentum against Wolves.
