Manchester United had reportedly agreed on personal terms with Brighton's Carlos Baleba before pulling out of the deal. The club was close to securing Baleba's signature, with talks between the parties progressing positively. However, the deal ultimately fell through. In addition to Baleba, other players have been linked with Manchester United, including Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, and Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace. Brighton's financial demands were a significant factor in the collapse of the deal, as they insisted on a transfer fee comparable to the one Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo, approximately £115 million. This would have made Baleba one of the most expensive players in the Premier League. Manchester United's midfield has been a point of concern for manager Ruben Amorim, who is looking to strengthen the team ahead of the January transfer window. As a result, players like Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo are being considered for potential transfers. Despite Baleba's struggles this season, Manchester United is reportedly interested in rekindling the deal in the summer. Tottenham is also in the running to sign Baleba, who has been a target for the club.
