Napoli started the match strongly, with Matteo Politano coming close to scoring in the fifth minute with a shot that narrowly missed the post. They continued to dominate, and their pressure paid off in the 15th minute when Scott McTominay slid Romelu Lukaku through, who calmly finished with his weaker right foot.
Napoli looked to extend their lead, but Genoa gradually increased the pressure on their defence. The visitors eventually equalised in the 30th minute, albeit in fortunate circumstances, as Honest Ahanor's header was inadvertently deflected into the net by Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret.
The second half saw Napoli come out strongly, with Lukaku twice denied by Genoa keeper Benjamin Siegrist. However, they eventually restored their lead in the 61st minute, thanks to a McTominay assist and a powerful finish from Giacomo Raspadori.
Genoa responded strongly, with Aaron Martin's cross headed home by Johan Vasquez to level the scoreline for the second time. The match ended 2-2, leaving the gap between Napoli and Inter at just one point with two games remaining.
Napoli's Scott McTominay was the standout player, contributing to both of his team's goals.
