Manchester City Thump Dortmund in Champions League Match - AsianBookie News Manchester City Thump Dortmund in Champions League Match
Thursday, November 06, 2025 - 7 hours ago

The match between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund took place at Etihad Stadium, with City emerging victorious with a 4-1 score. Dortmund had previously shown impressive form, scoring four goals in all three of their league phase matches this season, but on this occasion, they were on the receiving end.Phil Foden was a standout player, scoring twice with similar efforts, while substitute Rayan Cherki marked his Champions League debut with a goal for his new team. However, it was Erling Haaland who stole the spotlight with his 29th-minute effort, becoming the first player to score in five consecutive Champions League appearances for three different teams.

Haaland's achievement is a testament to his impressive form in the competition, having netted seven goals in his last five outings for City. His goal also marked a significant milestone, as he became the first player to achieve this feat for three different teams.

Initially, Dortmund seemed to be taking the game to their hosts, but City eventually regained control with two goals in seven minutes. The home side's wide players, Jeremy Doku and Savinho, were a constant threat, using their pace and trickery to torment the Dortmund defenders.

City fans were also impressed with Phil Foden, who looked back to his best and may be due for a recall to the international team. Foden's performance was a key factor in City's victory, as they maintained their unbeaten record at home in the Champions League.

Despite their dominance, City fans remained nervous, aware of their team's history of throwing away leads. However, the fourth goal in added time brought relief to the crowd, and Dortmund's substitutes, including Jobe Bellingham and Carney Chukwuemeka, were unable to mount a successful comeback.

City's victory marked several records, including their 23rd consecutive home Champions League game without defeat and their 11th win against German clubs at home. Dortmund, on the other hand, may be wondering how things would have turned out had Haaland not left them for City in 2022.

Looking ahead, City will face Liverpool at home on Sunday, a test of their consistency and a further challenge for manager Pep Guardiola's team.
