McGuane, who now plays for Huddersfield Town, made history in 2018 by becoming the first Englishman to play for Barcelona's first team since Gary Lineker in 1989.
"On the field, I'm sure he'll do well and represent himself well," McGuane said. "He's a great player with many good qualities, and I'm sure he'll thrive in his new team."
"Off the field, I think it's essential for him to get involved in the local culture and community," McGuane added. "His family and friends will be very important as he settles into his new life. It can be challenging to adapt to a new country, language, and culture, so having a good support network will be vital."
